Inkscapes ability as cad cam software is very limited though, the G-code function is an extra add on extension and not the software’s main purpose. It is a vector graphics program that allows you to draw freeform shapes which can then be converted to G-code using the ‘gcode tools’ extension.

I don't know if this is an issue with my inkscape steps, the jtechphotonics plugin, or my printer setup (or a combination). This is where the free software inkscape comes in. My issue is that it seems to have issues with doing curves. I'm trying to use inkscape and the jtechphotonics extension to generate gcode to do laser engraving. I wanted to experiment with the Inkscape jtech laser gcode extension but have found the gcode output to be interesting and something I hadn’t dealt with yet using the x-carve and various software tools (i.e. I bought an external laser that I mounted to my ender3.
